Only one of two All-Americans in the history of the women's basketball program, Aaron Beck stands among the best basketball players in the history of the Barnard College basketball program.

Beck had only played one year of high school basketball prior to joining Barnard College's women's basketball program. But Beck's experience, or lack thereof, was a distant memory the moment Beck picked up a basketball for Barnard.

A three-year team captain, second team All-American and Jewish All-American standout, Beck held 32 of 36 Barnard College women's basketball records upon graduation. Beck was named Most Valuable Player following their senior year in 1983.

After graduation, Beck's number 32 was retired by Barnard College in honor of their success.

Today, Beck still ranks fourth in school history with a single-season scoring average of 17.6 points per game during the 1982-83 season. After graduating from Barnard College in 1983, Beck went on to earn a Ph.D. in historical musicology from the Columbia University School of the Arts.

In 2003, Beck moved to Portland, Oregon to work as an assistant professor of music at Lewis & Clark College. Six years later, Beck was given an endowed position at Lewis & Clark College: the James W. Rogers Chair of Music. Beck was named Professor of the Year at Lewis & Clark in 1998 and Master Teacher of the American Musicological Society in 2007.

Over the past 10 years, Beck has served as Lewis & Clark College's Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA. He also continues to work at Lewis & Clark as a full time professor, where he specializes in Medieval Italian music.
