Atwo-time unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year selection and three-time All-Ivy League first-team selection, Nicole Bartnik is one of the most successful athletes in the history of the Columbia women’s tennis program. Bartnik finished her career with a 79-37 overall singles record, including a 17-7 mark in Ivy League singles. She was 53-52 overall in doubles matches.

Before competing at Columbia, Bartnik competed in junior Wimbledon and the US Open in 2008. She ranked as high as No. 86 in the world in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings and played tennis in more than 18 countries.

Bartnik made a quick impression as a first-year during the 2009-10 season, winning the singles title at the USTA Collegiate Invitational. She earned a No. 5 regional ranking in singles and a No. 112 national ranking in singles during the fall season. As a rookie, Bartnik played the No. 1 singles in the spring and went 11-5 with two Ivy League wins.

As a sophomore, Bartnik was recognized as a First Team All-Ivy League singles selection. She finished the spring with a 13-7 singles record at the No. 1 spot. Bartnik finished with a 3-4 mark in Ivy League play.

Bartnik took her play to the next level as a junior in the spring of 2012, finishing the season with a 14-5 singles record. She again played the No. 1 spot for the Lions and went undefeated in the Ivy League, finishing the season with ten straight wins. Bartnik was a unanimous choice for the Ivy League Player of the Year award. She was also a First Team All-Ivy League selection.

Bartnik finished her senior season with a 17-10 singles record, including a 6-0 mark against the Ivy League in 2013. She was named the Ivy League Player of the Year for the second year, becoming the third women’s tennis player in conference history to accomplish the feat. Bartnik was again honored as First Team All-Ivy League in singles. She was also named the ITA Northeast Region Senior of the Year. As the co-captain, Bartnik proved vital to leading the team to its first Ivy League title in program history in 2013. As a senior, Bartnik earned a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships.
