NEW YORK, N.Y. - Despite junior guard Megan Griffith scoring a career-high 27 points, the Lions fell to Harvard 86-71 in the last game of the season. The Lions finish the year 6-21 overall, 2-12 in the Ivy League.
Columbia had at 39-38 lead at the half, but the Crimson went on a 6-0 run starting at 15:41 to take a 56-48 lead that the Lions would never overcome. Columbia made its next two shots, a layup by sophomore guard Michele Gage and a three-pointer from junior forward Becky Hogue to make the score 56-53, but Harvard quickly took a 12-point lead (65-53), scoring nine unanswered points. The Crimson increased their lead throughout the rest of the game, going up by as many as 16, winning by a final score 86-71.
Gage had another stellar night for the Lions, having her second 20+ game of the weekend with 22 points, hitting four threes and going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line

Harvard first-year Emily Tay also had a career night, scoring 24 points while teammate Maureen McCaffery had a game-high nine rebounds.
The first half of play was extremely close with neither team gaining more than a four point lead and the lead changing 14 times. The Lions started out with a quick 6-2 lead but Harvard turned the four-point swing in its advantage, hitting four baskets in a row to take a 10-6 lead.
Columbia tied the game up at 15 on a layup by junior guard Shasta Henderson and the two teams traded baskets for the rest of the half. With 18 seconds left, the Crimson hit a free throw to go up by two (38-36) but the Lions brought the ball down the court and Gage hit a three at the buzzer to end the half with Columbia up 39-38.
Griffith scored 18 points in the first half and Gage had 12 of her 22 points.
