Starters Jackie Adelfio and Angela Megaw matched zeros over the first three innings of the first game until Dartmouth broke the tie with a run in its half of the fourth.
With a runner on first and two outs, Alicia Petryk and Megan Snively hit back-to-back singles to plate the first run and give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead that it would hold until the bottom of the sixth.
Columbia's rally started with one out, when Valerie Smith reached on a Dartmouth error. Ciji Rich worked out a walk and Kacy Krisman was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Lacie Nelson.
Nelson came through, belting a sharp, line-drive single off the foot of Erica Owen at third base to tie the game at 1-1.
Two batters later, Kim Krisman ripped a 2-2 pitch through the hole on the right side, scoring two and giving Columbia a 3-1 advantage.
Adelfio allowed a one-out walk in the seventh, but retired Owen on a groundout to third and Ashley Gleason on a foul out that Maiya Chard-Yaron ran down halfway between home and first to end the game. Adelfio (13-6) scattered six hits over seven innings for her sixth straight victory.
Dartmouth got on the board quickly in game two, scoring twice in the top of the first, and had runners on first and second with one out, but Chard-Yaron got Petryk to ground into a double play turned by Kacy Krisman, the first of two 5-5-3 double plays in the game, to end the inning.
Columbia then bounced back with two runs in their half of the first inning. Chard-Yaron led off with her first triple of the season, a low line drive that rolled all the way to the fence. Lexie Costic picked up an RBI, reaching on an error and Keli Leong doubled to put runners on second and third. Valerie Smith then brought home Costic on a squeeze bunt to tie the score.
Dartmouth scratched out a run in the second to move ahead, 3-2, and added two more on a home run by Petryk in the fifth that provided the final margin.
After the first inning, Dartmouth starter Stephanie Trudeau settled down, only allowing three hits the rest of the way and striking out nine in all.
Columbia (18-15-1) returns to action on Monday, April 10, when the Lions will make up their doubleheader with Harvard that was scheduled for Saturday, April 8. Game time at Columbia Softball Stadium is slated for 2 p.m.
