
Volleball Drops Two At College of Charleston Invitational

In the first match, the Lions kept the first game close but fell 30-27. The Cougars took the second game 30-23 but
Sophomore Amalia Viti and senior Nikki Learned each had 12 kills while junior Cassie Ligh led the defense with 20 digs.
In the second match the Lions fell quickly in game one 30-18 but came back in game two to win 30-28. Eastern Michigan, however, took the next two games 30-25 and 30-27 to take the match.
Junior Natalie Gerling led the Lions with 20 kills while Ligh added 13 kills. Junior Blakely Low, first-year Ellie Thomas, sophomore Ashley Kim and Ligh all posted double digits in digs for Columbia with Kim leading the way with 16.
Learned was named to the All-Tournament team after having 27 kills over the course of the tournament and leading the Lions on offense against host Charleston.
Columbia travels to St. John's on Tuesday, September 19th to take on the Red Storm at 7 p.m.
