The Columbia women's tennis team lost to Barry 6-1 to open their spring break trip.
Nina Suda posted the Lions lone win at #1 singles, to an opponent ranked #11 in the Division II ranks.
"I am so happy for Nina. She hung in there with a very good player after losing a close first set and just kept on doing all the right things,” Coach Weintraub said. “She played relaxed and tough and kept the pressure on the opponent the entire match. My favorite moment in the match, was in the third set tie-breaker on a crucial point, Nina hit a ridiculous, down the line, passing shot to win the point, and she pumped her fist and shouted "Cmon, Nina" to herself. After that I knew she had it.”
“We've had had some injuries and sickness, so we're playing a different lineup, but I was really proud of how the team handled the wind, sun and kept focus.”
