GAME NOTES

FACULTY APPRECIATION DAY
Friday night's game marks Faculty Appreciation night. The Columbia field hockey program invites all faculty and staff to come out and support the team as they take on Princeton.

COLUMBIA'S STATUS
Columbia went 1-1 for the third time in four weekends, dropping a 2-1 heartbreaker in OT against Cornell Saturday before a dominating 8-1 triumph over Georgetown Sunday.

The eight goals against the Hoyas tied a program single-game record and was the most lopsided victory for the Lions since 2006 when they topped St. Francis (Pa.) by the same margin.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Despite just a 3-5 record coming into the weekend, four of those losses have come against ranked foes. Plus, the Tigers have handled their first two Ivy League opponents, topping Dartmouth, 4-0, and Yale, 4-1.

Princeton saw its three-game win streak snapped by No. 12 Albany Sunday with a 2-0 defeat to the Great Danes.

A LOOK BACK...PRINCETON
The Tigers scored just 24 seconds into the game and scored five times in the first half to pick up a home victory over Columbia last season. Goalkeeper Marlee Silverstein blanked Princeton in the second half and made nine saves in 46 minutes of action after coming off the bench.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
After a 7-1 start, Hofstra has dropped three-straight prior to its Friday night showdown with Northeastern.

In their last game, the Pride fell to No. 13 Syracuse, 6-2, on Sep. 28.

Hofstra has not scored more than two goals in a game during this recent stretch.

A LOOK BACK...HOFSTRA
Katie DeSandis '13CC scored twice to lift Columbia to a 4-2 win over the Pride at the Baker Athletic Complex in September of 2012. Hofstra scored first, but the Lions rallied to tie the score in the first half and took the lead for good after Molly Andrews '13CC put one home three minutes after the intermission. The then first-year Christina Freibott assisted on a pair of goals in the game.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Junior Christina Freibott tied the Columbia career record with her 21st assist on Sunday against Georgetown, tying the mark established by Dana Zullo '03 and Christine Buszczak '10. Freibott's 10 helpers in 2014 is one shy of tying the single-season mark, currently held by Buszczak. Currently, the Wilmington, Delaware, native ranks first in the Ivy League and second in the nation in assists and she has tied the school's single-game record with three dimes twice this season and three times in her career.

'RUESTER' CROWS
Sophomore forward Katie Ruesterholz is already seventh on the all-time goal charts with 15 tallies and is four away from cracking the top-five.

EVERYONE PUTS THE LIONS IN A CORNER
Columbia's 9.88 penalty corners per game lead the Ivy League and rank second in the NCAA. Of the Lions' 23 goals this season 12 have come of set pieces.

SHARING IS CARING
Behind the supurb play of Freibott and the success on penalty corners, Columbia is also among the national leaders in assists per game, averaging 3.88 to rank second in the NCAA.

ZOE'S PLACE
Midfielder Zoe Blake continued her stellar senior season with two goals and an assist in Columbia's romp of Georgetown on Sep. 28. It was her third two-goal game of the season and her seven goals this sesaon has nearly tripled her career total of four coming into 2014.
