Kaczor’s four goals tie single-game record; J. Solari Etcheberry’s four assists sets a single-game record

NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey erupted for a program-record nine goals in a dominant 9-0 win over LIU on Sunday afternoon at the Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

Izzy Kaczor tied a program single-game record with a career-high four goals, while Jacinta Solari Etcheberry's four assists set a program single-game record. Five different Lions found the back of the cage: Kaczor, Jacinta Solari Etcheberry, Mckenzie Bloom, Kate Kim, and Brooke Liddell. Eight of the nine goals were assisted.

The Lions (3-1) fired off 32 shots and managed to put 27 on the cage. Columbia goalkeeper Margot Houle kept seven LIU shots out of the goal. The Sharks (0-4) received 18 saves from goalkeeper Taryn Dolka.

Just 1:35 into the match, Columbia was on the board with a Jacinta Solari Etcheberry goal. Halfway through the first quarter, Kaczor scored her first goal to give the Lions a 2-0 lead at the end of one.

Columbia would score three goals in the second quarter. Bloom, Kate Kim, and Kaczor boosted the margin to a five-goal lead headed into the break. Despite not scoring in the third frame, the Lions still buzzed with five corners and three shots.

In the fourth, Columbia put the match away with four goals. The offensive explosion was capped with 1:28 to play when Brooke Liddell broke the single-game record with the ninth goal of the afternoon. Columbia opens Ivy League play next Friday at Cornell at 4 p.m.
