
Volleyball Continues Conference Road Trip Up North

NEW YORK - The Columbia volleyball team (3-7, 1-0 Ivy) continues its five-game conference road trip this weekend as it heads up North to take on Yale (Oct. 2) and Brown (Oct. 3).
The Lions will open the weekend with a 7 p.m. match against the defending Ivy League Champion Yale Bulldogs before rounding out the weekend at 5 p.m. against Brown on Saturday.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Columbia heads into the weekend with a 1-0 conference record after a big 3-1 win over Cornell last weekend to snap a four-game losing streak.
- After dropping the first set to the Big Red, the Lions battled back with three-straight set victories to open Ivy League action with a win.
- Columbia has only defeated Yale on three occasions in program history as the Lions are looking to snap a 26-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.

CHASING DOWN PROGRAM HISTORY
- With an impressive 797 assists (9.96 per set) last year that was fifth in the single-season record books, junior Jennifer Petrovich now has 1,558 total assists in her career, putting her in fifth all-time behind Shannon Hunzicker (1,616).
- Bailey Springer is nearing the top five in career kills with 741.
- Katarina Jovicic recently moved into fourth place all-time in Columbia's win over Cornell (Sept. 26), putting her at 211 total blocks to surpass Heather Braungael while Kesi Neblett (186) currently sits in seventh place all-time.
A QUICK LOOK AT YALE
- The defending conference champions head into the weekend with a 6-4 record after opening Ivy League action with a 3-1 victory over Brown last weekend.
- This year, the Bulldogs are 2-2 at home and are averaging 12.87 kills, 15.84 digs, 2.13 blocks and 1.58 aces per set through 10 matches.
- Leading the way has been Kelly Johnson who holds an average of 3.68 kills and 2.45 digs per game for a team-leading 167.5 points this season.
A QUICK LOOK AT BROWN
- Brown heads into the weekend after a tough 3-1 loss to Yale last weekend, snapping a three-game winning streak after a sweep at the CCSU Invitational on Sept. 18-19.
- Leading the way for the Bears this year has been the attacking duo of Sabrina Stillwell (3.36 k/s, .314 attacking pct.) and Payton Smith (2.71 k/s, .325 attacking pct.).
- Smith also leads the team with 12 service aces this year while Melissa Cairo is just behind with 11.
