Gehrig Divisional Play Begins for Baseball at Princeton This Weekend

NEW YORK - The Columbia baseball team will take its eight-game winning streak to Princeton this weekend for a four-game series with the Tigers, beginning on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. All four games can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
The Lions are riding an eight-game winning streak as they open up Gehrig Division play this weekend. Columbia topped Yale and Brown by an average margin of nine runs and held off St. John's, 5-4, Wednesday in Queens.
PRINCETON'S STATUS
The Tigers have dropped 8-of-10 and most recently fell at Monmouth, 14-1, Wednesday. Princeton went 1-3 in Ivy League play last weekend, splitting with Dartmouth and dropping two at Harvard.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Columbia is 92-116-2 all-time against Princeton, but have won seven-straight and 11 of the last 13 meetings. Last season, the Lions posted 13-3, 9-6, 8-2 and 3-2 victories over the Tigers at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
Columbia outscored Yale and Brown last weekend by a combined score of 44-8 and continue to lead the Ivy League in numerous offensive categories (see page five). The 16 runs in game one at Yale was the most runs for the Lions in a game since they scored 17 at South Alabama in 2011.
'ATTA BOY, ROY
Junior Kevin Roy pitched a complete-game shutout in an 8-0 win in game one over Brown on April 6. He is the first Lion pitcher to record a clean-sheet since David Speer blanked Penn, 4-0, last season.
BORETTI REACHES COLUMBIA MILESTONE
Brett Boretti picked up his 200th victory as head coach of Columbia. Last season, the skipper who is in his 10th year, won his 300th career game.
RANDY SAVAGE
First-year Randell Kanemaru has acclaimated nicely into conference play, boasting a team-best .526 batting average in Ivy League game only to rank second in the league. He also leads the Ancient Eight in OBP in conference contests at .654.
