Columbia Baseball Rolls Past Fordham, 11-5

Fellows hits two homers, including a grand slam, to split season series with the Rams
Kail paced the lineup with a perfect 4-for-4 day, driving in three runs. Fellows finished with six RBI, while Owen Estabrook recorded his fourth homer of the season in the win.
On the mound, the Lions' bullpen pieced together strong performances. Koby Seelig (1-0) earned his first collegiate win in his first career start, allowing one run over two innings. Jack Korthas tossed for two innings, recording one strikeout, while Dan Mills worked for two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Brendan Murphy closed the game in dominant fashion, firing two scoreless innings while striking out three to close the door on the Rams.
The Rams struck first as Joey Donelli plated a runner to take the 1-0 advantage. Columbia responded instantly. Jimmy Chadwell sparked the rally with a leadoff single, followed by Anthony Temesvary reaching to put two aboard. After Kail worked a walk to load the bases, Fellows blasted his second grand slam in a span of four days to deep left field to give the Lions a 4-1 advantage.
Columbia continued to apply the pressure in the second inning when Estabrook led things off with a solo shot. A walk and double by Temesvary set up an RBI knock from Kail. After the Rams scored one in the third, the Lions restored the five-run cushion in the bottom of the frame when Chadwell knocked in Charlie Slabaugh, stretching the lead to 7-2.
In the sixth, Hunter Snyder doubled off the wall in center to set the table for Kail, who ripped a base hit for Columbia's eighth run. Fellows followed with a two-run blast, becoming the first Lion to record two home runs in a game this season.
Fordham notched four hits in the seventh and scored three runs, but some strong defense limited the damage. Temesvary started a 5-4-3 double play and Slabaugh made a diving grab in right to end the inning to keep the Lions in front, 10-5.
The Lions added insurance in the eighth as Kail delivered his third RBI of the game, and Murphy shut the door in the final two innings, allowing just one baserunner in his appearance to seal the win.
With three RBI, Kail surpassed Rob Paller (2012, 2014-2016) to claim sole possession of the ninth spot on Columbia's career list. His next RBI will tie him with Gene Larkin (1981-1984) for No. 8.
