
Men's Basketball Slated to Host Ball State in CIT Quarterfinals Wednesday

NEW YORK – The Columbia men's basketball team will host Ball State in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament on Wednesday, March 23 in Levien Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Columbia won its opening round game in resounding fashion, an 86-54 triumph over Norfolk State on March 15 to improve to 22-10 overall, which is the most wins for the program since 1967-68. The Lions also picked up its 15th home victory, which is the most in the history of Levien Gymnasium and tied a program record for most wins in Morningside Heights.
Ball State is coming off a thrilling 83-80 victory over UT Martin on Sunday. The Cardinals check in at 22-13 overall after finishing 8-6 in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play, good for sixth place in the regular season standings.
Wednesday night will be the first meeting between the schools.
Columbia received a second round bye from the committee after the CIT field was capped at 26 teams. The top-three seeds based on Ken Pomeroy (KenPom) ranking system received the automatic berth into the quarters. The Lions came into the event as the No. 3 team, behind just UC Irvine and UT Arlington.
