Unanimous First Team All-Ivy League Nod for Maodo Lo Highlights Three Columbia Selections

PRINCETON, N.J. – Three Columbia men's basketball players were recognized with All-Ivy League honors for the 2015-16 season, led by the second consecutive unanimous First Team selection of starting guard Maodo Lo. Fellow seniors Grant Mullins (second team) and Alex Rosenberg (honorable mention) were also rewarded by the league's coaches for their performance this season. The three all-league selections is the most for Columbia since the 1967-68 Ivy League Championship season.

Starting all 31 regular-season games for the Lions, the Berlin, Germany native scored 16.7 points per game, and raised his scoring average in league play to 17.3, good for third in the league. During the season, Lo became the Lions' all-time leader in 3-pointers, breaking the record of 189 set by Matt Shannon '89CC, more than a quarter-century ago. His 264 buckets from beyond the arc place him fifth in Ivy League history. Lo's 1,682 career points ranks third in program history, behind only Buck Jenkins '93CC (1,767) and Jim McMillian '70CC (1,758), and 14th among all Ivy League players.

On the defensive side of the ball, Lo averaged 2.3 steals per contest, leading the Ivy League and ranking ninth in the NCAA. His 70 total steals is a new Columbia single-season record, and his 174 picks place him second on the Columbia career list. Lo also entered the Lions' top ten in blocked shots, with 48 over his four-year tenure.

Named to the second team, Mullins had a wonderful bounce-back season after missing 2014-15 due to injury. The shooting guard from Canada averaged 13.1 points on 42.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc and dished out a team-best 3.4 assists, seventh among Ivy Leaguers. Mullins earned his first double-double of his career against Princeton, when he scored 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. He also shot 83.3 percent from the free throw line, the second best mark in the conference. Earlier this season, Mullins was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I first team.

Honorable mention honors go to Rosenberg, who also missed last year with an injury. Posting 13.8 points per game, the New Jersey-raised forward moved up to sixth all-time on the Lions' career scoring list with 1,385 points. Over the course of his career, Rosenberg netted 457 free throws, good for second in program history. Among his superlative performances this season included a season-high 26 points in the Lions most decisive win at the Palestra in program history, and a memorable buzzer-beating shot to give Columbia a comeback win over Harvard in Cambridge.

With a record of 21-10, Columbia remains in strong contention for a postseason tournament berth. The Lions will find out their postseason fate Sunday evening. Check back with GoColumbiaLions.com for more information.
