NEW YORK – In a tale of two halves, the Columbia lacrosse team dropped a 15-12 contest at Robert K. Kraft Field on Monday, Feb. 26 against Arizona St. (3-1). After a 10-7 Columbia advantage heading into the half, the Sun Devils outscored the Lions 8-2 in the second period to complete the comeback.
The Lions had six different players find the back of the net on a 12-goal afternoon, with sophomore Fallon Quinn leading the way in her second-consecutive four-goal game, along with a game-high six draw controls. Senior Victoria Kalamaras (1g, 3a) and first-year Alexandria Absey (3g, 1a) posted a team-high four points, while first-year Devon Stuzin found the back of the net twice and added five draw controls.
Junior Lindsey Ewertsen tallied a team-high four ground balls with two points on a goal and an assist. Sophomore Regan Steed scored her first goal of the season and first-year Chelsea Witteck was solid offensively with a goal and an assist.
Combining for nine Columbia saves in goal were Abby Roberts (4 saves) and Kelsey Gedin (5 saves). Senior Kathryn Cavallo led the intensity on defense with a game-high four caused turnovers and three ground balls on the day.
Up next, the Lions (1-3) will begin Ivy League play on Saturday, March 3 in a 12 p.m. match at Dartmouth.
