Hempstead, N.Y. – On the road at Hofstra, tirst-year Alexandria Absey led the Columbia lacrosse team with a standout performance posting a team-high four points on three goals and an assist. Despite an impressive hat trick on just three shots, the Pride handed the Lions a 17-8 defeat at James M. Shuart Stadium led by five goals from Alyssa Parella.

With a team-high five draw controls, Lindsey Ewertsen surpassed Caroline Joy '17CC (112) on Columbia's all-time list collecting her 114th career draw control for the third most in program history. She continues to climb the Columbia all-time charts in several categories, including 74 caused turnovers to tie Amanda Goodhart '12CC for fourth-most all time.

The Columbia offense spread the wealth early with four first-half goals being scored by just as many Lions. Regan Steed put the Lions on the board first (20:49), Ewertsen found Alexandria Absey for her 21st goal of the season (10:02), while Chelsea Witteck (12:07) and Orna Madigan (5:10) also found the back of the net.

Absey led the Lions in the second half with two goals and assists from both Fallon Quinn and Victoria Kalamaras (92). Witteck and Madigan also scored their second goals of the afternoon to cap another four-goal period for the Lions.

Goalkeepers Kelsey Gedin (7 sv.) and Abby Roberts (3 sv.) combined for 10 saves in goal.

The Lions (3-6, 0-2 Ivy) will be back in action on Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m., as they return to Robert K. Kraft Field to host Harvard. Sunday's match is dedicated to the One Love Foundation. Founded in 2010 to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, One Love works with young people across the country to raise awareness about the warning signs of abuse and activate communities to work to change the statistics around relationship violence.
