CHATANOOGA, Tenn. – The Columbia wrestling team wrapped up the Southern Scuffle today in Tennessee.
 
Three Lions advanced to the second day of action at the prestigious tournament, with Dan Reed earning four victories and Laurence Kosoy winning three matches.
 
After opening up with a loss to Penn State's Bo Pipher, Reed bounced back with a pin over Air Force's Jacob Ward in the 157-pound consolation bracket. The senior then topped RJ Mosley from Gardner Webb by a 6-3 margin, before posting a major decision over Alex Klucker from Lock Haven, 9-1. Reed went on to top Kolby Ho from George Mason, 8-3, during day two action, before picking up his second loss to Stanford's Paul Fox, 9-4.
 
For Kosoy, a first match 6-4 victory against Marcus Amico from Air Force helped him move on in the 165-pound bracket, as he was just one of two Lions to win their first match in the tournament. Kosoy dropped an 8-6 decision to Tyler Marinelli from Gardner Webb, then won his next two bouts in the consolation bracket, including a pin against Michael Elliott from Appalachian State in the third period. The junior was knocked out in the following round, dropping a 7-2 decision to Penn State's Mason Manville.
 
Heavyweight Daniel Herman also advanced to the second day of action, winning a pair of bouts over Trevor Burns from Chattanooga (10-1) and Ryan Cloud from Rider (12-3). Herman's sophomore classmate Riley Jacops also won two matches in the 149-pound bracket, topping PJ Gohn from Edinboro and teammate Cole Corrigan.
 
In the team scoring, Columbia finished the tournament with 17.5 points in 22nd place.
 
The Lions are back in action next week with a trio of duals. On Thursday, Jan. 10, Columbia takes on George Mason and Cleveland State in Fairfax, Virginia, before traveling to American on Saturday, Jan. 12.
