WEST ORANGE, N.J.—The Columbia men's golf program finished in fourth place as three players placed in field's top-20—junior Cullen Chung, sophomore John Robertson and sophomore Arjun Puri—as it hosted its Columbia Spring Invitational Saturday at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, N.J. The complete two-round, 36-hole event was played entirely on Saturday.

Columbia finished fourth in the team competition at 29-over-par 291-298-589. Saint Joseph's Ross Pilliod won the individual title by five strokes as he carded a four-under-par 68-68-136.

Competing as an individual, Chung finished in 11th place with a six-over-par 75-71-146. He came on in the second round and moved up 12 spots in the individual standings with a one-over-par 71. Robertson (+7, 70-77-147) and Puri (+7, 69-78-147) finished tied for 14th in the individual standings.

Other top Columbia scorers included sophomore Dan Terrell (+9, 72-77-149), first-year Daniel Core (+9, 76-73-149) and junior Nick Brisebois (+9, 76-73-149), who all finished 24th place, sophomore Youn Sung Kim (+10, 75-75-150), who finished in 32nd place, first-year Pat Healy (+11, 75-76-151), who took 35th place and first-year Derek Kim (+12, 77-75-152), who finished in 36th place. Senior Sunny Yan placed 44th at +15, 78-77-155.

Through the first round, Columbia sat in third place in the team standings after shooting an 11-over-par 291. The Lions finished the first 18 holes six strokes behind team leader Saint Joseph's (5-over-par 285) and three strokes behind Saint Peter's (8-over-par 288). Saint Joseph's Ross Pilliod led the individual leaderboard at two-under-par 68, while Saint Peter's Mike Winter and Columbia's Arjun Puri were tied for second at one-under-par 69.

In the first round, Puri fired three birdies and 13 pars to complete his 69. Robertson finished the first round with five birdies including three consecutive on holes 15, 16 and 17. He would have been in the lead if it weren't for his eight on the par-5 10 hole. Terrell finished the first round in in 12th place with a two-over-par 72. He carded four birdies in the round including back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11.

The second round saw a change in weather and course conditions as wind picked up and the course dried out from storms from the previous evening.

Twelve teams competed in the one-day, 36-hole invitational. Those teams included Bryant, Colgate, Columbia A, Columbia B, Fairleigh Dickinson, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Monmouth, Rider, Saint Francis, N.Y., Saint Joseph's and Saint Peter's.

The teams played nine-hole courses 4 and 2 at Montclair Golf Club, a par-70, 6585-yard course.

Columbia concludes its season next weekend when it competes in the 2019 Ivy League Championship, April 19-21 at Hidden Creek Golf Club at Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
