All races to be streamed live on ESPN+
NEW YORK – Columbia will compete in the Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship this Sunday on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.
Sunday's racing will be streamed live on ESPN+. Morning prelims begin at 8 a.m. with two heats in the varsity eight. Prelims will continue over the next hour in the second varsity eight, varsity 4A and varsity 4B. The finals start up in the afternoon at 2 p.m. and run through 4:30 p.m. A complete event schedule can be accessed here. Live results will also be available courtesy of RegattaTiming.com.
This year's Ivy League Championship will be formatted differently from those in recent years. The Ivy League Championship and Sally P. Shoemaker Trophy will be presented to the winning varsity eight crew. The team points champion will be the team with the most points across all boats. The Ivy League's automatic qualifier to NCAAs will be awarded to the team with the most points across the NCAA boats (V8, 2V8, V4).
The Lions will compete in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight and varsity four events. The lead varsity crew will be made up of junior coxswain Devon Bernsley, junior Sabina Maurer, junior Hailey Todoroff, junior Liza Ray, senior Maya Hartleben, sophomore Samantha Stehley, junior Anna Beshlian, first-year India Colegrave and junior Astrid Walker-Stewart. The crew finished third two weeks ago at EAWRC Sprints.
Columbia will face four nationally ranked programs this weekend. No. 7 Brown leads the bunch, followed by No. 8 Princeton, No. 9 Yale and No. 16 Harvard. The rankings are according to the latest CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll. Columbi and Dartmouth are also receiving votes.
Last season, the Lions finished seventh in the team points standings at the Ivy League Championship. The varsity eight won its head-to-head race in the petite final by seven seconds over Cornell.
