Lions Finish in Fourth Place at Yale Invite

Two Lions place in top-15: senior Alexis Florio (12th) and first-year Paige Harrison (15th); Florio moves up 12 spots in standings for 12th place finish at 10-over-par 77-74-72-223.
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Columbia Women's Golf team concluded the two-day Yale Invitational in fourth place and two players—senior Alexis Florio (12th) and first-year Paige Harrison (15th) placed in the field's top-20 Sunday at the Yale Fall Invitational. Columbia entered the final round in fourth place and finished exactly where it began. The Lions combined for a 44-over-par 294-298-304-896. Columbia's B Team took ninth place 99-over-par 329-316-235-880.
Florio entered the final round in 24th place but moved up 12 spots in the standings after shooting a one-over-par 72 on Sunday. She registered birdies on holes 10, 11, and 16 in the final round and concluded the three-day event with a 10-over-par 77-74-72-223. She improved on her score each day and she did the job on par-4 holes where she finished third in the field (4.03).
Harrison finished the tourney in 15th place at 12-over-par 72-76-77-225. She finished with 15 pars and one birdie in the first round for her 72 and three birdies in the second round.
A total of five Lions finished the invite in the top-30. Senior Jennifer Wang took 23rd place at 14-over-par 69-79-79-227. Wang finished the first round at two-under-par 69 and in third place. She parred the first seven holes, then registered birdies on holes 9, 11, 14, and 17. In all, she totaled eight birdies on the first day. The 69 tied for the fifth-lowest round in school-history. She finished the weekend with nine total birdies.
Sophomore Allison Paik and first-year Taylor Zeng both tied for 27th place as Paik finished at 15-over-par 76-76-76-228 and Zeng totaled a 77-72-79-228. While shooting a second round 72 on Saturday, Zeng birdies on holes 4, 5, and 18.
Columbia's B Team was led by sophomore Anne Walsh, who finished the day in 34th place at 19-over-par 76-78-78-232. Junior Christine Shao (81-76-78-235) and Annie Sun (81-75-79-235) both tied for 38th place at 22-over-par. Senior Marlene Tartaro did not play the final round and finished with a 91-87 on Saturday.
Boston College won the team competition with a 14-over-par 293-280-293-866 and BC's Natalie Irlbacher won the individual title at seven-under-par 70-67-69-206. Including the two Columbia squads, a total of 11 teams participated in the event: Boston College, Boston U, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Hartford, Harvard, Howard, Penn, and host Yale.
Yale Golf Course has a par of 71 and a yardage of 5,972 for the 54-hole event.
