NEW YORK — Three members of the Columbia field hockey program were named to All-Ivy League teams, the conference announced this afternoon. Senior Kelsey Farkas was tabbed for the first team, while senior Alexa Conomikes and sophomore Maya Walker gained second-team nods.
This marks the third time Farkas has earned All-Ivy League accolades and her second time gaining a spot on the first team. The tri-captain tied for the team lead in goals (five) and points (14) and was second on the squad with four assists, despite missing seven games due to injury. Farkas started the season with points in the first four games of the season and was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on September 6. With Farkas in the lineup, the Lions posted a 7-3 overall record.
Conomikes picks up her second All-Ivy League selection after starting all 17 games in net. She led the Ancient Eight, averaging 6.3 saves per game, also good for No. 7 in the NCAA. Her .764 save percentage also put her second in the conference and in the top-20 nationally. Conomikes, who was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on September 20, made 10 or more stops in five contests.
Additionally, Conomikes was designated as Columbia's Academic All-Ivy League recipient. Each institution nominated one member from their program from their eligible student-athletes who were key contributors with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
In her first collegiate season, Walker shined on the backline, starting all 17 matches and being named one of three captains even before playing a collegiate game. The sophomore registered three goals and three assists for nine points on the year. Walker's last goal of the year was the game-winner to give the Lions a come-from-behind win over Rider in their home finale on October 31.
