Columbia resumes Ivy League play Saturday against the Big Red before taking on its second ranked opponent in the Orange Sunday

COLUMBIA'S STATUS
The Lions' are coming off their first defeat of the season after falling to No. 14 Harvard, 4-1, last Friday night. The Crimson broke a scoreless tie in the 52nd minute and twice more to take a 3-0 lead before Columbia ended Harvard's four-game shutout streak after an Anabelle Brodeur goal late.
CORNELL'S STATUS
The Big Red claimed a 3-1 triumph at Dartmouth in their Ivy League opener last Sunday. Two of Cornell's three losses have come to ranked teams (3-2 loss to No. 1 Michigan, 1-0 loss to No. 12 Syracuse) and each has been by one goal. Caroline Ramsey has a team-high five goals, while Natalie Stone and Bridget Mahoney have dished out five assists apiece. Aerin Park has been solid in net, registering a 1.05 GAA, a .714 save percentage with a shutout.
INSIDE THE SERIES - CORNELL
Columbia is 6-18 against Cornell all-time. The Big Red snapped a three-game losing streak to the Lions in a shootout win in Ithaca in 2019. After 80 scoreless minutes, Grace Royer was the only player to convert in the skills competition. Columbia outshot Cornell, 15-10, and had a 10-2 edge in corners.
SYRACUSE'S STATUS
The Orange have defeated two straight Ivy League opponents via shutouts after topping Cornell, 1-0, on Sep. 22 and Penn, 2-0, on Sep. 26. Syracuse plays host to No. 5 North Carolina prior to facing the Lions. Quirine Comans and Pleun Lammers each have five goals to pace the squad. In net, the Orange have split the duties between Brooke Boryzymowski and Louise Pert, but Borzymowski has started the last five matches. She has a pair of shutouts with a 0.85 GAA and .800 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES - SYRACUSE
Columbia is 0-3 against Syracuse and has never scored against the Orange in three tries. The schools last met in 2011 with Syracuse claiming a 3-0 win in Central New York.
NEWS/NOTES
WHAT A RIDE...
Columbia's 6-0 start the season was the best in program history. The six-game winning streak also tied the Lions' mark for longest such stretch with the program previously accomplishing the feat in 2012 and 2014.
