Lions open spring 2022 season in competitive 15-team Columbia Classic Presented by Moon Golf on Sunday and Monday at Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla.
VIERA, Fla. —The Columbia women's golf team opens its 2022 spring season by hosting the Columbia Classic Presented by Moon Golf, set to be held Sunday and Monday at Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla.
Sunday's first and second rounds will begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. ET. The teams will play a continuous 36 holes. Monday's final round is set to start at 8 a.m. ET. The teams will have the opportunity to test out the course on Saturday with a practice round. Live stats are available on Golfstat at this link.
The highly competitive 15-team field includes three schools apiece from the Big 12 and Big 10 Conferences, one Southeastern Conference school, one Atlantic Coast Conference team, and four Ivy League schools. The field includes UAlbany, Boston U., host Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa State, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Princeton, Purdue, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Virginia Tech, and Yale.
In the Nov. 19 Mizuno Women's Golf Coaches Association poll, Oklahoma State enters the spring season ranked No. 2 nationally, while Texas Tech and Virginia Tech are receiving votes. In the Feb. 7, 2022 Golfweek/Sagarin women's golf rankings, eight teams competing this weekend are rated among the nation's top-50 programs including Oklahoma State (No. 2), Texas Tech (25), Virginia Tech (26), Georgia (29), Illinois (32), Purdue (36), Iowa State (39), and Northwestern (49).
Seven Columbia women's golfers will travel to Florida and compete in the event. Representing Columbia will be senior Alexis Florio, first-year Taylor Zeng, senior Jennifer Wang, sophomore Allison Paik, and first-year Paige Harrison. Junior Christine Shao and junior Annie Sun will compete as individuals.
