5 THINGS TO KNOW:
1. NATIONAL TELEVISION DEBUT
• Columbia women's basketball will be making its first appearance on national television. The ESPNU telecast is part of the Ivy League's multi-year agree with ESPN, which includes streaming all games on ESPN+. Columbia has appeared on regional television several times, including three times earlier this season on SportsNet NY (SNY).
2. HISTORY IN THE MAKING
• The 2021-22 season has seen Columbia set many firsts and numerous school records, beginning at the very start of the season when they started 5-0 in the first time. Columbia's other notable season accomplishments include:
- Defeating an ACC team on the road (Clemson, Nov. 13)
- Starting Ivy League play 7-0 (previous best was 2-0)
- Winning a program record eight consecutive games (Dec. 13 - Feb. 4)
- Winning the most Ivy League games in program history (10)
- Winning the most games overall in the program's Div. I era (19)
- Defeating Penn for the first time since 2011
- Sweeping Penn for the first time since 2010
- Sweeping Yale for the first time since 2011
3. HSU-TING THE THREE
• Sophomore
Abbey Hsu broke the program's single-season record for most made 3-pointers as part of Friday's, 74-70, victory over Harvard. Her record-breaking 74th triple came in the final seconds of the first half to put the Lions up 35-31 at the break.
• Hsu leads the Ivy League and ranks top 10 in the NCAA in 3-pointers made (77), attempted (211) and made per game (3.35). She also shoots the ball at an effective rate, sitting at 36.5 percent on the season to rank No. 3 in the Ivies and top 100 in the country.
• As a team, the Lions are second in the Ivy League in threes made (180), attempted (574) and made per game (7.8). The team's 31.4 percent mark from the perimeter is third-best in the league.
4. HEADING TO IVY MADNESS
• Columbia has clinched its spot at the 2022 Ivy League Tournament, which will be held March 11-12 in Boston. The Lions cinched their spot with Friday's win against Harvard. In 2020, the Lions posted an 8-6 Ivy League record to finish fourth, but were never able to compete in the tournament due to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
5. SCOUTING PRINCETON
• The Tigers (19-4, 11-0 Ivy) are the final hurdle Columbia will be looking to get past on its quest to claim its first Ivy League title. The Lions have not won a game against Princeton since 2008 and have lost 25 straight in the series. Earlier this season, Princeton got the better of the matchup, racing out to a 35-16 halftime lead en route to an 18-point victory at Jadwin Gym.
• Abby Meyers is the leading scoring threat, averaging an Ivy League-best 18.0 points per game. She has made 45.8 percent of her shots while knocking down 41.4 percent from beyond the arc. The senior captain has scored at least 10 points in every game and has nine 20-point performances. However, the team prides itself on defense, ranking No. 3 in the country in points allowed at 50.0 per game. They lead the Ivy League in scoring defense, scoring margin (+17.8), field goal defense (.354), rebound margin (+7.7), 3-point defense (.259) and turnovers forced (20.26).
• Princeton currently owns the longest conference winning streak in the country (37), which his also the longest such streak in Ivy League history.
