Lacrosse to Open Ivy Play against Brown

Columbia will dedicate Saturday's 1:00 P.M. contest to Breast Cancer Awareness.

NEW YORK -- The Columbia lacrosse team (2-1) will welcome Brown (2-2) to Robert K. Kraft Field this Saturday, at 1:00 P.M., in the Lions' 2022 Ivy League Opener. The contest will mark the return of Ivy League play for both programs after COVID-19 restrictions canceled the majority of the 2020 and entirety of the 2021 seasons.

Fans in attendance are expected to abide by Columbia Athletics Spectator and Venue Policies. Alternately, the game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats updating through GoColumbiaLions.com.

Notably, Columbia will dedicate Saturday's contest to Breast Cancer Awareness, acknowledging survivors while continuing to fight for a cure via a team fundraising page. Donations can be made directly to New York Presbyterian Hospital, on behalf of Columbia women's lacrosse, on give.nyp.org.

Here are five topics to keep in mind ahead of Saturday:

BOUNCING BACK
Columbia returns to Wien Stadium after suffering a tough loss to the Bryant Bulldogs. After a hot two-game start, the Lions will be eager to hunt down their next victory, hoping to do so in Ivy League fashion.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Through three games, experience has proven key to Columbia's offense. Senior Sydney Paoletti leads the Lions in total points (9) while classmates Katie Lutz and Rachel Graff pace the program in goals (5). After dishing out an assist against Bryant, Lutz' six combined points rank second overall while her ten shots on goal top the statistical charts.

As a team, Columbia's 10-9 win over LIU leads the Ivy League in single game saves (15) and ground balls (28). Goalkeeper Simone Koryszewski has fueled the Lions' defense with 32 saves and a team-best seven ground balls.

TRACKING FIRSTS
This week, Lauren Yun earned her first collegiate start while producing a team-high five caused turnovers. First-year Noelle DeMarinis recorded her first goal against LIU while junior Chandler Jean-Jacques produced her first collegiate hat trick.

THE OPPONENT
Tabbed fifth in the Ivy League Pre-Season Poll, Brown boasts a 2-2 record thus far.
The Bears are led by week one's Ivy Offensive Player of the Week, Claire Jeschke. The senior has amassed a team-leading 11 points off four goals and seven assists. Sophomore Jackie Mason has fueled Brown's offense, finding the back of the net six times on seven shots on goal.
In goal, senior Erin Tucker has played all 240 minutes, amassing 43 saves.
