Lions Host Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge

Columbia Track & Field will head to The Armory to host the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge from Feb. 4-5.
NEW YORK — Columbia Track & Field returns to the historic Armory for the first of three-straight meets, starting with the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge set to run from Friday, Feb. 4-Saturday, Feb. 5, with the first event on Friday scheduled to get going at 9 a.m. and Saturday's events get going at 8:30 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT: Columbia took to the track and field on Jan. 28 at the UAlbany Great Dane Classic held in Staten Island, New York at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex. During the meet, Kali Hatcher leaped 40-01.50/12.23m to win the triple jump, while nine Lion men and women finished inside the top-five in a solid day of competition for the Lions.
Elena Wilson clocked a 22.33 in the 200m, Delaney Sanacore posted a time of 2:25.40 in the 800m, while in the shot put Patrick Passalacqua set a mark of 50-05.25/15.37m and McKinlee Morris posted a mark of 43-10.75/13.38m, giving Columbia four Lions who finished inside the top-two in their respective events.
BACK IN THE ARMORY: Columbia last competed at The Armory on Jan. 15, when they took part in the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invite. In that meet, Columbia had six women post first place marks, while Passalacqua nearly broke the school record in the shot put with a second-place toss of 53-09.75/16.40m, the second-best mark in program history.
In the high jump, Anna Jordahl-Henry cleared 5-05.25/1.66m, in the triple jump Tiffany Bautista launched 36-02.25/11.03m and the 4x400m-Relay squad of Fredericka Walker, Sydney Goldson, Kali Long and Amara Onyeukwu clocked a time of 3:56.54 for the Columbia women's six first place finishes.
UPTOWN TIMES THREE: Columbia's next three meets, including this weekend's Columbia Challenge, will be held at The Armory. The Lions will next weekend, return for the Rutgers Indoor Invitational which is scheduled to go from Feb. 11-12.
Columbia then wraps up its 2022 trips to The Armory, when the Lions host the Ivy League Indoor Heps from Feb. 26-27.
REWRITING THE BOOK: At the Bill Ward Invitational on Dec. 5, 2021, Morris broke a 27-year old program record in the shot put with a toss of 46-2.75/14.09m on her first career collegiate throw. She broke the previous mark that was held by Rachelle Noble, who in 1994, posted a mark of 13.46m
