
Men's and Women's Track Win Tri-Meet Hosted by Yale

The Lions claimed the men’s title outright with 72 points, while the women earned a share of first place with 65.5 points.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Columbia track & field teams put on a clinic Friday afternoon at the Yale–Dartmouth–Columbia tri-meet inside Coxe Cage. The Lions claimed the men's team title outright with 72 points, while the women earned a share of first place, tying Yale atop the standings with 65.5 points.
Men's Recap
The Columbia men delivered scoring performances in every event group, securing the team title behind balanced contributions. On the track, Liam Hanemann won the 800m in 1:55.50, while Ben Bergey claimed victory in the 1000m at 2:24.87. The Lions dominated the 3000m, sweeping the top two spots behind Quentin Ryan (8:16.03, PR) and Henry Koike-Sieira (8:19.95, PR).
The Lions showed depth in the sprint events, led by sophomore Caden Cutchall's second-place finish in the 400m (48.54, PR), with teammates Ethan Singleton (3rd, 50.89) and Christopher Young (4th, 52.79, PR) following closely behind.
In the 200m, junior Zach Willen finished second in 22.04, while senior Max Comfere placed third (22.16), and senior Josiah Williams took fourth (22.50).
Columbia also scored in the hurdles, paced by Young's second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.32, PR), followed by Temoc Zamora in third (8.49) and Adam Jaros in fifth (8.90).
In the mile, the Lions placed four athletes, led by senior Edward Blaha finishing third at 4:09.06.
Senior Joshua Adams won the long jump with a mark of 7.24m, while junior Tyler Yen placed second (6.95m), sophomore Joshua Yoon finished fourth (6.73m), and junior Benson Fleischer added a fifth-place result (6.58m). Rocco Carpinello placed second in the triple jump (14.58m), and added points from Marcus Blasucci's third-place finish in the shot put (16.15m) and junior Parker Kim's runner-up effort in the weight throw (20.40m).
Columbia rounded out the meet with the 4x400m squad of Cutchall, Williams, Willen, and Singleton placing third with a time of 3:17.64.
Women's Recap
The women's squad showcased their well-rounded performance against their conference opponents. On the track, sophomore Kylie Castillo won the 400m in 56.76, while first-year Meredith Wolfe claimed the 800m title with a personal best time of 2:10.45. Senior Rory Clare added another victory for the Lions in the 1000m, crossing the line in 2:44.84.
In the sprints, Columbia placed multiple athletes in the 60m and 200m, highlighted by sophomore Katie Norman's fourth-place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 7.88 and sophomore Sean O'Brien's runner-up performance in the 200m as the clock stopped at 25.82.
The Lions also scored in the 60m hurdles, where Mignonne de Beer placed third in 8.96.
Columbia's distance squad added valuable points throughout the meet. Senior Daniela Quintero finished second in the mile with a time of 4:56.29, while junior Caroline Jankowich placed third clocking a career best time of 4:58.98.
The Lions' 4x800 relay of Maggie Boler, Dana Lehr, Rory Clare, and Annie Killian surged to a first-place finish in 8:58.12, controlling the race from the early legs and closing strong to secure the win. Columbia also placed third in the 4x400 relay, as the quartet of Josie Rempe, Kylie Castillo, Omolade Dada, and Katie Norman clocked 4:02.62, rounding out a strong showing in the sprint relay.
The Lions excelled in the field events. De Beer won the long jump extending her personal best mark of 5.83 meters, while Madison Williams finished second. Williams and Viktoria Mihaylova took over the competition in the triple jump, recording 11.79m and 11.92m respectively.
In the weight throw, Mia Hoskins captured first as she launched for 17.22 meters, and Seraiah Bruno contributed points in the pole vault with a second-place finish as the sophomore cleared a season best mark of 3.50m.
