Columbia Lacrosse Welcomes #12 Princeton to Baker Athletic Complex

Lions will partner with Morgan's Message during Friday's game.
NEW YORK -- Columbia lacrosse (2-6, 0-2 Ivy) will welcome #12 Princeton (6-1, 1-0 Ivy) to Robert K. Kraft Field this Friday in a 7:00 P.M Ivy League clash. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats generating on GoColumbiaLions.com.
Additionally, the Lions will be partnering mental health advocacy group, Morgan's Message.
MORGAN'S MESSAGE
Founded in memory of late Duke lacrosse player Morgan Rodgers, "Morgan's Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics."
Junior Claire Briglio serves as a program ambassador, spreading awareness on student-athlete mental health issues on campus and beyond.
FAMILIAR FOE
First year head coach Anne Murray will face her alma mater in Friday's clash. As a student-athlete at Princeton from 2006-09, Murray helped guide the Tigers to a 49-22 record, four straight NCAA Tournament berths with three NCAA quarterfinal appearances, and the 2006 Ivy League championship. In 2013, she joined head coach Chris Sailer's staff, working with the Tigers until 2017. During this time, Princeton captured four regular season titles and a pair of Ivy League tournament championships.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Offensively, Columbia is paced by first-year Dani Falcone. Falcone has recorded 13 goals on 21 attempts while dishing out three assists for a team-best 16 points. She is followed by senior Rachel Graff (12 goals), classmate Kate Cunning (11 goals), and team co-captain Katie Lutz (10 goals). Falcone and sophomore Sophie Zachara lead the Lions on the draw, securing 21 controls a piece.
THE OPPONENT
No. 12 Princeton enters Friday with a trio of top 20 victories to its name. In their season opener, the Tigers defeated #10 Virginia 17-11 before overcoming #20 Temple, 14-10, one week later. Against #17 USC, Princeton came out on top defeating the Trojans 18-13 in Los Angeles. The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season this Wednesday, falling to #7 in a close 15-16 matchup in Maryland.
Princeton is paced by senior Kyla Sears whose 24 goals and 31 total points lead the team. Sophomore Grace Tauckus follows with 18 goals thus far. On the draw, senior Marge Donovan has secured 47 controls while recording a team-best nine caused turnovers. Last week, Sears and Donovan swept the Ivy League weekly awards earning Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week recognition, repsectively.
Sam Fish has played all 420 minutes in goal, recording 69 saves with 91 goals against for .431 save percentage. Sears was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after opening weekend.
LOOKING FORWARD
After Friday, Columbia will play just twice more at home meeting San Diego State on April 2 and Harvard on April 16. The Lions will celebrate both Senior Day and Alumni Day against the Crimson while acknowledging the program's Silver Anniversary Team. On the road, Columbia is slated to face UConn (3/30), Dartmouth (4/9), Yale (4/23), and Penn (5/1).
