Lions to Host Women's, Lightweight Races on Saturday at Overpeck Park

Saturday regatta at Overpeck Park will feature the Columbia women’s team in the Woodbury Cup and the Lightweights in the WIT and Subin Cup; Heavyweight races against Penn, Princeton, and Rutgers are canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
LEONIA, N.J.—For the second consecutive weekend, Columbia Rowing will host a regatta featuring the Lions' Lightweight and Women's teams on Saturday at Overpeck Park in Leonia, N.J. Columbia's Heavyweight races have been canceled.
Due to COVID-19 concerns and safety protocols within the Columbia heavyweight rowing program, Columbia's Child's Cup races against Princeton and Penn and its Collins Cup race against Rutgers have been canceled in accordance with Columbia University and Ivy League policy. Columbia, Penn, Princeton and Rutgers will look to reschedule the heavyweight races for a place, time, and date to be determined.
Columbia's Lightweights will take on Navy in the WIT Cup and Dartmouth in the Subin Cup. The winner of the Varsity 8 in both races will capture the respective cups.
Columbia's Women's Rowing squad will square off against Northeastern and Navy in the Woodbury Cup. The Woodbury Cup is typically contested between the Northeastern and Columbia Varsity 8, but Navy is joining as a guest this year.
Located in Leonia, N.J., Overpeck County Park is an 811-acre county park in Bergen County, New Jersey, with major sections in Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck, surrounding Overpeck Creek, a tributary of the Hackensack River. Spectators can enter the park from the Challenger Road entrance by following directions to the Overpeck County Park Amphitheatre. If parking near the team launch site, race viewing is best seen from the western shore about a 15 minute walk from the parking area.
