Men's 4x800m Wins Ivy Title At Outdoor Heps

Columbia Track & Field had nine Lions earn All-Ivy League honors.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — In a photo finish Michael Danzi ran down the leading runner and for the fourth straight time gave Columbia Track & Field an Ivy League title in the 4x800m relay (7:32.27), locking up nine All-Ivy League finishes across both the men and the women at the final day of the 2022 Ivy League Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Dwyer Track.

Danzi ran the anchor leg of a squad that was made up of Brandon Hicks, Solomon Fountain and Justin O'Toole and it's the fourth straight time going back to 2017 and ninth time in the past 12 years.  Columbia's men finished sixth overall with a score of 39 points and the women finished eighth with 40 points. The Lions also got five second-team All-Ivy League honorees, with the Columbia women providing two and the men locking up three honorees.

For the women, Phoebe Anderson finished second in the 5,000m with a time of 17:09.55 and in the field, Kali Hatcher leaped 12.89m to finish second in the triple jump.  The second team All-Ivy honors makes Hatcher a two-time outdoor All-Ivy League honoree having earned the honors during the 2019 Ivy League Heps.

On the men's side, Danzi finished second in the 1,500m with a time of 4:00.11 to lock up his second All-Ivy honors of the day and joining with multi-All-Ivy honors was O'Toole who clocked a second-place time of 1:52.45 in the 800m.  In the field, Nate Gramentine cleared 2.06m in the high jump to finish second and lock up the second team All-Ivy honors.

In the men's shot put, Patrick Passalacqua once again broke a record held by the late Al Thompson '54CC, recording a mark of 16.71m to break the 68-year-old record of 16.35m held by Thompson and finish fourth in the event. COLUMBIA RESULTS
