Victoria Patterson Wins 3000m Run Championship on First Day of Ivy Indoor Heps

Competition resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m.
HANOVER, N.H.-- The Columbia indoor track & field team has wrapped up day one of the 2023 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted this year by Dartmouth University.
So far, the women currently reside in fourth place with 10 points. Harvard is in first place on the women's side with 49 points.
The men have yet to score. The Big Red also have ownership of first place on the men's side after day one with a score of 36.
The highlight of the evening for either team came when Victoria Patterson claimed a gold medal in the 3000m run, winning the event in convincing fashion with an impressive time of 9:27.40.
Combined the men and women had four other top-five finishes on the first day of Heps.
The highest came from Amara Onyeukwu, who placed second in the first round of the 400m with a time of 56.26. Sydney Goldson took fourth in the first round of the 500m with a time of 1:15.72. Finals for both events will take place tomorrow.
The highest finish on the men's side came from Devon Davey who placed third in the first round of the 500m with a time of 1:04.20. Jacob Van Orden finished fifth in the first round of the 800m with a time of 1:52.84. Finals for both events will take place tomorrow.
