Baseball Announces Four Captains Ahead Of 2023 Season

Camron Hubble, Andy Blake, Weston Eberly, and Hayden Schott comprise the leadership committee for the Lions

NEW YORK– Columbia baseball head coach Brett Boretti has announced seniors Camron Hubble, Andy BlakeWeston Eberly, and Hayden Schott as the program's captains for the 2023 season.
 
 
"I think our players did a tremendous job selecting the team captains for 2023," Boretti said. "Each of them possesses strong leadership qualities as well as the ability to hold their teammates accountable to the highest standards."
 
Eberly served as the Lions' starting catcher last year, appearing and starting in 46 games. The Maitland, Florida, native batted .306 with 49 hits (22 for extra bases) last season. Eberly belted seven home runs and drove in 41 runs while producing a .563 SLG percentage and a .429 OBP. 
 
Eberly was a First Team All-Ivy League selection in 2022. Earlier this week, Eberly was ranked No. 37 on D1Baseball's Top 50 Catchers list.
 
Schott enters his senior season after setting multiple Ivy League records in 2022. He tied for most home runs ever in conference play (8) and total bases (67) while recording the most at-bats (88). Overall, Schott played all 50 games and posted a .320 batting average with 12 home runs and 55 RBIs. 
 
The Newport Beach, California, native led the team in hits, doubles, at-bats, home runs, RBIs, total bases, and slugging percentage. Schott was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selection in 2022.
 
Blake made 45 starts out of the 46 games he appeared in, batting .304 with 55 hits (26 for extra bases), crushing 10 home runs, and driving in 42 runs. His 47 runs scored were tied for the team lead with Eberly last season. Blake was a Second Team All-Ivy League selection in 2022.
 
Hubble appeared in 14 games out of the bullpen last season and logged 24 innings pitched. The right-handed hurler recorded four scoreless outings in 2022.
