CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. —The Columbia cross country program returned to action on Saturday morning, with both the men and women competing at the Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville. The women placed 16th in the event, while the men finished in 23rd place.
Phoebe Anderson lead the way for the Lions, finishing in fourth place in the women's 5k with a time of 16:23.80.
Elia Ton-That also had a solid showing in her first meet of the season, finishing 53rd in the competitive field with a time of 17:11.90.
Talha Syed paced the men with a 93rd place finish, clocking in with a time of 24:22.40 in the 8k.

The Lions are back at it next weekend, participating in the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh in Pennsylvania. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
