Field Hockey Set for Ivy League Tournament Clash With Princeton on Friday

Lions earned first-ever Ivy League Tournament berth last Sunday
NEW YORK — The fourth-seeded Columbia field hockey team takes on top seed and host Princeton in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals on Friday at 11:30 a.m. from Bedford Field.

Last Time Out
Columbia defeated Dartmouth, 4-1, on Sunday in a Senior Day win to capture the program's first-ever Ivy League Tournament berth.
Lizzie Adams scored the game-winner in the 45th minute and posted an assist. Delfina Gonzalez Lobo scored the opening goal of the game and added an assist. Senior Katie Wimmer made six stops, all in the first half, to earn the win in net.
Columbia opened the scoring just 1:16 into the game after capitalizing on a penalty corner. After starting the play on the insert, Gonzalez Lobo scooped up a rebound off an Adams shot to make it 1-0.
Wimmer Continues to Impress
Goalkeeper Katie Wimmer was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and earned a First Team selection on Wednesday.
Wimmer ranks second nationally in save percentage (.824) and fourth in saves per game (8.1). Both marks lead the Ivy League. Wimmer's 122 saves on the season also lead the conference and rank fifth in the country. The Windham, New Hampshire native was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the fifth time this season.
All-Ivy Recognition
Along with Wimmer, Jacinta Solari Etcheberry (Second Team) and Lindsey Yu (Honorable Mention) also earned All-Ivy League accolades.
Solari Etcheberry played and started in all 15 games during the regular season, tallying seven points. The first-year midfielder recorded three goals, an assist, and a team-best 19 shots on goal.
Yu also played and started in all 15 games in 2024, leading the team with four goals. Her eight points are tied for the team lead and her 14 shots on goal rank second on the Lions. The senior captain also buried two game-winning goals (Sept. 13 vs. LIU and Sept. 20 at Cornell).
Last Time Against Princeton
The Lions played the Tigers to a close 1-0 defeat in New York City earlier this season on Sept. 27. Wimmer made five saves in the loss but Columbia was unable to register a shot on goal.

The winner of Columbia-Princeton takes on the winner of the Harvard-Brown match in the Ivy League Tournament final on Sunday at 12 p.m. The match will air on ESPN+.
