LAS VEGAS – Columbia wrestlers
Sulayman Bah,
Kai Owen,
Richard Fedalen,
Cesar Alvan and
Joe Curtis battled to the consolation first round of eight in each of their weight divisions, but all five were defeated to end Columbia's run at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite.

th-ranked Alvan posted an impressive win to get the day started in Las Vegas as he defeated No. 22 Stoney Buell (Purdue) in an 8-1 decision at 165 pounds. Alvan then came up just short in a 5-4 decision loss to MJ Gaitan (Iowa State) in the round of 16. Alvan earned a decision win over Drayden Morton (California Baptist) in consolation before being defeated in the consolation first round of eight.
Bah, Owen, Fedalen and Curtis each lost their first matches of the day and moved over to consolation. Bah rebounded with a decision win against Bridger Ricks (Utah Valley) at 125 pounds before being eliminated. Owen posted a 10-3 decision victory over Josh Saunders (Cornell) in his first consolation match at 141 pounds and was then eliminated with a loss in the next match. Fedalen (149) and Curtis (197) both secured wins via fall in their consolation matches. Both were then defeated in the next round of consolation.
Dominic Rossetti (157) and
Jack McGill (174) both earned one win in the consolation bracket after losing their first matches of the day.
Vincent Mueller represented Columbia in the heavy weight division and was defeated in his first two matches.

Columbia will have a two week break before returning to dual action. Columbia will host Hofstra at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 21 in the University Gymnasium "Blue Gym" located inside the Dodge Physical Fitness Center.
