Wrestling Assistant Coach Sebastian Rivera to Compete at World Championships

2024 Olympic Bronze Medalist to represent Puerto Rico

ZAGREB, CroatiaColumbia wrestling's David and Michael Barry Assistant Coach of Wrestling Sebastian Rivera is set to compete at the Senior World Championships, beginning Saturday in Zagreb, Croatia. The 2024 Olympic Bronze Medalist will be representing Puerto Rico and competing in the 65kg weight class. 

Entering his second season with the Lions, Rivera begins on Monday at 4:30 a.m.

Rivera has represented Puerto Rico at an international level since 2021. His crowning achievement was his Olympic Bronze Medal representing Puerto Rico in the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, France. He punched his ticket to Paris after capturing silver at the 2023 World Championships in Serbia.

Rivera also achieved silver and bronze at the Pan American Championship in 2022 and 2023, silver in 2023 at the Central American and Caribbean Games and gold at the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series and the Grand Prix of Spain.
At the collegiate level, Rivera was a five-time All-American. Earning his undergraduate degree at Northwestern and graduate degree at Rutgers, he was a two-time Big Ten Champion, was the 2022 NCAA tech fall leader and boasts 115 career collegiate victories.
