Sophomore duo earns Columbia’s top finishes
NEW ORLEANS — Sophomore Yoko Tai shot a final-round 3-over-par 75 to earn the Columbia women's golf team's top finish at the 2024 Tulane Classic. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was completed on Tuesday at English Turn Golf & Country Club.
Tai (+11) finished tied for 33rd in the 100-player field. Her 75 on Tuesday was solid, carding 13 pars and four bogeys to go with a birdie at the par-5 sixth.
"Yoko continues to trust her practice process and the results are holding up," head coach Amy Weeks said. "English Turn is a classic course that tests all parts of your game. You leave there a better player and that's the good news for all."
Not far behind Tai was fellow sophomore Emma Shen, who earned a top 40 at 13-over-par 229.
The Lions (+67) finished 14th in the 17-team field (303-317-311—931), ahead of Wichita State (+74), Princeton (+75) and North Carolina A&T (+80).
Columbia competes at the Pinetree Invitational, March 25-26, at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia. The event is being hosted by Kennesaw State.
