Vanasse Breaks Columbia Record in 1k at ECAC Championships

Men finished 26th, women finished 33rd
BOSTON, Mass. — The Columbia indoor track and field team competed in the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The men finished in 26th place with 5 points while the women finished in 33rd place with 3.33 points.
Nikki Vanasse was the star of the show for the Lions, following up her Ivy League Championship in the mile last weekend with another strong performance this weekend. In the women's 1,000m, Vanasse won another gold medal, while setting a Columbia program record in the event with a time of 2:43.30. This time is also the third fastest time in the history of the Ivy League.
Haydn Brotschi was the Columbia men's highest finisher, taking fifth place in the 400m with a time of 48.21.
Jada Mia Puryear took sixth place in the women's pole vault with a mark of 12.58m.
Justin Gottlieb also had a top-10 finish, taking eighth in the 800m with a time of 1:52.41.

ON DECK:
With the Lions' indoor season as a team now complete, all eyes will be on Phoebe Anderson who will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend in Boston. She will run in the 5,000m at 8:20 p.m. on Friday night.
