Six-team event runs through Sunday at The Stanwich Club
NEW YORK — Columbia will compete in the 2024 Ivy League Women's Golf Championship, which takes place Friday-Sunday at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. The 54-hole stroke play event will see the league's six teams vie for the Ivy League crown.
Yoko Tai, Emma Shen, Allison Paik, Paige Harrison, Angela Zhang and Ava Zeng will represent the Lions at the 2024 championship. Official pairings and first-round tee times will be released by the Ivy League following the introductory banquet on Thursday evening.
Tai is Columbia's stroke average leader this year (76.29) and enters the championship coming off her best finish of the season at last weekend's Navy Spring Invitational. Battling extremely tough conditions and gusty winds, the sophomore posted a first-round 5-over 77 and followed with a second-round 78 to finish solo ninth. It was her second career top 10 and her fourth top 25 in seven tournaments this season.
Closely behind Tai is fellow sophomore Emma Shen, who carries an even 77.00 stroke average in 17 rounds on her 2023-24 campaign. She owns two top 25s and a top 10 at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in October. Shen, Zhang and Paik all tied for 14th last weekend at Navy.
Two years ago, Columbia finished second at the championship, just three strokes behind Princeton for the title. It was Columbia's best finish in the event since winning it all in 2007. Last year, the Lions were sixth in the event at Century Country Club. Christine Shao was Columbia's top individual finisher, tying for 20th at 19-over for the championship.
The top five individual finishes and ties from the event will be named First Team All-Ivy League. The next five individual finishers and ties will be named Second Team All-Ivy League.
The winning team will earn an automatic bid to represent the Ivy League at the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Regionals, which will be held May 6-8. The 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Selection Show is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, at 2 p.m. ET, and will air live on the Golf Channel.
The first round of the 2024 Ivy League Women's Golf Championship tees off at 10 a.m. on Friday. Each subsequent round is also currently scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Fans can find pairings and follow live scoring throughout the weekend on Golfstat.
