NEW YORK — Columbia heavyweight rowers
Adam Pushner '26CC and
Colton Millar '27CC finished first place in their heat and A/B semi final (Fastest qualification time) in the U23 Men's Pair event, under the guidance of Columbia heavyweight coach
Andrew Hess.
Pushner and Millar finished in fifth place with a USA pair record time of 6:22.17 in the A final against Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Slovenia, and Romania. In an even that had 20 entries, the duo set the USA Pair record by 2.56 seconds. The old record was set in 2022 with a time of 6:24.73.
The Columbia pair were the only non-Development Camp boat that made an A final at worlds. They were the only pair to qualify for the World Rowing Championship by success in the trials.
About the Championships:
The World Rowing Under 23 Championships (WRU23CH) is the premier event for under-23 rowers, attracting up to 1,000 rowers from around the world. The 2024 edition is a combined event with the World Rowing Senior and Under 19 Championships, taking place from August 18-25 in St. Catharines, Canada. This year, competitors will race across 22 boat classes, including eight lightweight boat classes.
