Beltran and Elder recognized as honorable mentions
PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia women's soccer senior defender Justina Bitzer and senior midfielder Maia Tabion were named First Team All-Ivy on Wednesday afternoon following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season. In addition, first-year forward Evelyn Javers was tabbed Second Team All-Ivy, while Maia Beltran and Dema Elder were recognized as All-Ivy Honorable Mentions.
One of the Ivy League's most dependable defenders, Bitzer earned First Team All-Ivy honors after anchoring Columbia's back line throughout the 2025 campaign. A steady presence in all phases of play, Bitzer started every match and led a defensive unit that produced multiple shutouts. Her organization, composure, and leadership were vital to the Lions' postseason-clinching run. She also tallied an assist in the Lions' 2-1 win over Fordham. For her success in the classroom, Bitzer also received Academic All-Ivy recognition.
Tabion captured First Team All-Ivy honors following another standout season as the driving force in Columbia's attack. A creative and dynamic playmaker, Tabion led the Ivy League in assists with six this season, and cracked the conference's top-10 in points (a team high 12 points) and shots as well. Some of her highlights included tallying a goal and a helper less than a minute apart in the Lions' 3-0 win over Yale, providing three points in Columbia's 2-1 win over Fordham, and scoring a key goal in the Lions' 2-1 win over Brown. Her vision and energy in midfield helped guide Columbia to the postseason for the third consecutive season.
Making an immediate impact in her debut season, Javers was named Second Team All-Ivy after emerging as one of the league's most dangerous attacking threats with a knack for delivering in the biggest moments. Javers delivered clutch performances all year, none bigger than her two-goal outing in the 2-1 win over Harvard that clinched Columbia's postseason berth. She led the Lions with four goals on the season, and was in the top-10 on the conference's goals and points lists. Her combination of pace, poise, and finishing touch consistently changed the flow of matches.
Elder and Beltran each were recognized as All-Ivy Honorable Mentions for their consistency and leadership on both ends of the field. Elder served as a vocal leader and physical anchor on the back line, starting all 15 matches and helping the Lions maintain defensive stability throughout Ivy League play. Her biggest moment of the season came when she scored the game-winning goal against Cornell in the 89th minute, her only goal this season. Beltran, meanwhile, brought creativity and technical flair to the attack, appearing in all 15 games and providing key assists and dangerous service in the final third. She totaled three goals and two assists on the year. Together, their contributions embodied the balance and toughness that defined the Lions' successful regular season.
Columbia kicks off the Ivy League Tournament on Thursday in a semifinal game against No. 2 Dartmouth at 3:30 p.m. inside Princeton's Roberts Stadium at Myslik Field.
