PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Columbia wrestling team finished off a weekend sweep of Ivy League competition Sunday afternoon by defeating Brown, 27-17.
 
With wins over Harvard and Brown this weekend, Columbia improves to 5-7 overall in duals this season with a 2-3 mark against Ivy League competition. The Lions finished the Ivy League dual slate on a strong note with the sweep this weekend. Columbia will face Bucknell in the final dual of the season on February 21. The Ivy League Championships will take place on March 9 at Princeton.
 
"Great sweep this weekend on the road," Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling Donny Pritzlaff said. "The team's mental and physical toughness is starting to show more often in big moments. Some huge individual matchups out in Bucknell this coming Friday so our attention is zeroed in on that dual."
 
Sulayman Bah (125), Lorenzo Frezza (141), Kai Owen (149), Cesar Alvan (165), Jack McGill (174) and Nick Fine (184) all finished the weekend with two bout victories to help Columbia pick up two road victories.
 
Bah once against set the tone for Lions Sunday with a 17-4 major decision victory over Jared Brunner. It was the first of four bonus point victories Columbia earned Sunday, helping the Lions secure the 27-17 team victory.
 
Frezza continued to contributed to the lineup with a 10-5 decision win against Ian Oswalt at 141. Owen followed as he pinned Joey Iamunno in 4:50. The Columbia streak continued with Fedalen posting a major decision win at 157, No. 27 Alvan earning a decision win at 165, McGill securing a win in sudden victory at 174 and No. 30 Fine turning in a major decision at 184.
 
Brown earned three bout victories in Sunday's dual. The Bears used a tech fall at 133 to take their only team lead of the day. Brown also registered wins at 197 via forfeit and 285 via fall.
