NEW YORK – Columbia's five NCAA Championship qualifiers learned their seeding and first round matchups during the NCAA Wrestling Selection Show Wednesday night. The 2025 NCAA Championships are set to begin next Thursday, March 22 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Lorenzo Frezza (141),
Richard Fedalen (157),
Cesar Alvan (165),
Jack McGill (174), and
Nick Fine (184) will represent Columbia at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia next week.
Fine earned the highest seed of the squad and will head into the championships as the No. 20 seed in the 184 bracket. Fine will face Iowa State's Evan Bockman in the first match on Thursday. The junior from Cumberland, R.I., punched his ticket to Philadelphia after capturing third in the Ivy League Championships last week.
Alvan, a junior from Ludlow, Mass., earned the No. 24 seed in the 165 backet. He will square off against Missouri's Cam Stead in the opening round. Alvan was one of 10 Lions to secure a podium finish last week, when he captured second at the Ivy League Championships.
Frezza, Fedalen, and McGill were all named the No. 33 seed in their brackets. Frezza will face Oregon State's Nash Singleton in the 141 bracket. Fedalen will face Northern Iowa's Landon Johnson in the 157 bracket. McGill will square off against Branson John of Maryland.
