PHILADELPHIA – Five members of the Columbia wrestling team are set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling National Championships starting Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Sophomore
Lorenzo Frezza (141), junior
Richard Fedalen (157), junior
Cesar Alvan (157), Senior
Jack McGill (174), and junior
Nick Fine (184) will make up the group representing the Lions this week. The five wrestlers are tied for the second most Columbia has sent to the NCAA Championships, trailing the six qualifiers from 2023.
All five wrestlers qualified after reaching the podium at the Ivy League Championships. Frezza took fourth in the 141 bout, it marks his first NCAA Championship appearance.
Fedalen and Fine both took third in their respective duels. Fedalen defeated Brown's Umiko Saito in a 10-2 major decision in the third-place bout. Fine defeated Princeton's Kole Mulhauser by fall in this consolation finals.
Alvan and McGill both captured second in their respective weight classes. It is Alvan's second NCAA appearance and McGill's first.
