Baseball Shuts Out San Diego in Series Finale, 15-0

The Lions win the series; Santana shines with six scoreless

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Columbia baseball clobbered San Diego on Monday at Fowler Park, 15-0, in seven innings.

Starting pitcher Thomas Santana tossed six shutout innings and struck out six Toreros. Justin Bowman took care of the seventh inning to secure Columbia's third straight win and a series victory over San Diego (3-17).

The Lions (4-10) immediately took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a pair of RBI singles from Sam Miller and Cole Fellows

With a 3-0 advantage entering the fourth inning, Columbia broke open the game with a six-spot. The Lions tallied five hits in the frame, capped by a two-run home run from Anton Lazits.

Ben Fishel stayed hot by driving in a run in the sixth, and Owen Estabrook doubled home Fellows and Miller to make it 12-0.

Pat Wade drilled a two-run single and Dean Reynolds scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to cap Columbia's scoring for the day.

Columbia wraps up its California trip on Tuesday at CSUN. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET.
