Justin Haddad Named Academic All-American

Haddad becomes the third Columbia fencer to earn Academic All-American honors

NEW YORK – Columbia fencing senior Justin Haddad was selected to the 2024-25 Academic All-American second team as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Haddad was one of 44 student-athletes named to the at-large team and becomes the third Columbia fencer to earn the honor.  
 
Haddad, a computer science major with a 3.86 GPA, is one of 15 athletes named to the second team. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher to be considered for the award.
 
The native of Bethesda, Md., was named a Second Team All-American after finishing sixth at this year's NCAA Championships. The Ivy League epee champion and First Team All-Ivy League honoree was the NCAA Northeast Regional Silver Medalist and went 13-9 in the preliminary rounds at the NCAAs, helping the Lions capture second at the NCAA Championships.
 
Overall, Haddad went 28-12 in dual meet bouts in 2024-25. For his career, he boasts a dual record of 120-70. Haddad joins former Lions Emma Baratta and Jeff Spear to earn Academic All-American honors.
