OPENING TIPS
• The Lions are coming off a dramatic 58-55 win at Harvard last Saturday. Senior Perri Page led the way, matching career-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds to go with a game-high five steals. She hit the game-winning shot with 1.9 seconds left to break a 55-all tie. Page went on to be named both the Ivy League Player of the Week and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Women's Div. I Player of the Week. It is the first Ivy League Player of the Week award of her career, and her second MBWA honor of the season.
• In Ivy League play, Page leads all players in scoring (24.0), field goal percentage (69.0%) and steals (3.5). She ranks No. 2 in rebounding behind junior teammate Fliss Henderson (12.5).
• On the season, Page is one of three players in the NCAA to average at least 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and shoot 50% or better from the field - Sarah Strong (UConn), Taylee Chirrick (Montana State). She leads the Ivy League in total steals (45), steals per game (3.0) and field goal percentage (54.0%). Nationally, she is top 30 in steals per game and top 40 in field goal percentage.
• Riley Weiss leads the Ivy League in total points (258) and ranks No. 2 in points per game (17.2). She is top 50 in the NCAA in free throw percentage (85.7%).
• The Lions hope to bounce back from a loss in their last home game, falling to Cornell, 67-60, two weeks ago (Jan. 3). They have not lost consecutive home Ivy League games since March of 2020.
• Columbia's 13-game winning streak against Brown is its longest in series history and is currently its longest active winning streak against an Ivy League opponent. The Lions' 10-game winning streak against Yale is also its longest in series history. It ties for Columbia's second-longest active Ivy League winning streak (Dartmouth).
HARVARD POSTGAME NOTES (Jan. 10)
• Perri Page had 24 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. It is just the seventh time since 2010 that an Ivy League player had at least 24 points, 12 rebounds and five steals in a game. Page is the first Lion to do it since Judie Lomax '10BC had 24 points, 15 rebounds and six steals in a 66-56 win over American on Jan. 2, 2010.
• Page matched career-highs in points (24) and rebounds (12).
• Fliss Henderson played a career-high 39:39 and had a career-high three blocks.
• Riley Weiss (1,025) passed Sienna Durr '23CC (1,019) for 14th on Columbia's all-time scoring list.
• The Lions beat Harvard at Lavietes Pavilion for a sixth straight time in the series.
HISTORIC LAVINE FAMILY GIFT
• Columbia Athletics announced a $10 million gift to its men's and women's basketball programs from Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine and their family. The gift, one of the largest in the history of the Columbia Athletics program, provides support for both teams and endows the women's head coaching position, now known as the Lavine Family Head Coach of Women's Basketball. Megan Griffith '07CC assumes the new head-coaching title immediately. It is the single largest gift for women's athletics at Columbia.
• The endowed coaching position is named in honor and recognition of the leadership and generosity of University Trustee Chair Emeritus Jonathan Lavine '88CC, '23HON, his wife and partner Jeannie Lavine '23HON, and their family, daughters Allison Lavine '16CC and Emily Lavine Rosin '18CC and son-in-law Nathan Rosin '18CC.
LIONS UNVEIL EXCLUSIVE NIKE UNIFORMS
• Columbia women's basketball, in partnership with Nike, has unveiled an exclusive alternate uniform, which will debut on January 19 against Brown. The Lions will also wear these uniforms at home on February 13 vs. Princeton and on March 7 against Harvard.
• The anthracite uniform set features custom Columbia wordmarks and number fonts, with subtle design elements that reflect how New Yorkers move through the city. Details include nods to subway tile patterns and the iconic checkerboard motif of New York City taxis, grounding the design in the program's urban identity.
• Following three consecutive Ivy League championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances, Columbia was selected by Nike to collaborate on a New York City-inspired uniform concept. The Lions are one of just a few women's basketball programs nationally to receive a premium alternate set. The design draws from the program's core "EDGE" principles, incorporating the energy of New York City, the discipline of the lion, the grit synonymous with the city, and the pursuit of excellence symbolized by the Statue of Liberty. Together, those elements are reflected through bold styling, purposeful details, and a modern aesthetic that represents Columbia's competitive identity.
