
Indoor Track & Field Shines in Three Meets this Weekend

Men’s 4x400m relay set new school record
NEW YORK – The Columbia indoor track & field squad had a productive three-meet weekend at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Yale Giegengack Invitational, and Harvard Crimson Open.
BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational
Columbia's men finished in the fast lane in Boston. The Lions topped the program record in the 4x400 relay, as the quartet of sophomore Caden Cutchall , junior Zach Willen, senior Matthew Mazero, and senior Haydn Brotschi finished second in 3:10.06.
Brotschi placed third in the 400m with a personal-best 46.51. Senior Max Comfere captured the 200m title in a personal-best 21.70.
Yale Giegengack Invitational
The Lions also put together a strong showing in New Haven. In the 400m, sophomore Roya Amirhamzeh ran a personal-best 1:01.11 to place seventh, while junior Kaylee Bennett finished 10th in 1:02.46.
Columbia dominated the 800m, led by sophomore Isabella Shertzer, who won the event in 2:14.35. Sophomore Annie Killian placed fourth in 2:15.87, sophomore Scarlett Martin took sixth in a personal-best 2:18.25, and sophomore Caroline Adams placed eighth in a personal-best 2:19.93.
In the 1000m, junior Kate Price sealed third place with a time of 2:56.11 and senior Naomi Toft placed fourth in 2:56.79.
In the mile, junior Caroline Jankowich placed second in 5:02.19. Martin was third in 5:06.69.
The Lions added strong distance performances in the 3000m, where first-year Seelah Kittelstrom was second to cross the finish line in a personal-best 10:09.02 and senior Farah Osman placed fourth in 10:32.92.
In the field, first-year Zayna Flynn elevated for 1.35m to place eighth in the high jump. Junior Jessica Thompson won the pole vault at 3.90m, while sophomore Lucy Markow tied for fourth at 3.55m.
On the men's side, sophomore Sid Karthodi placed fourth in the 200m in 22.68. Senior Austin Rios-Colon finished sixth in the 500m in 1:05.91.
In the 800m, junior Marc Dabby finished third in 1:53.67, while Rios-Colon added a seventh-place finish in 1:59.50.
Senior Walker Beverly paced the distance squad with a victory in the 3000m, running a personal-best 8:22.66. Sophomore Brady Hill followed in third in a personal-best 8:29.74, and sophomore Ryan Son placed seventh in a personal-best 8:43.35.
Sophomore Collin Moore cleared 1.85m to finish second in the high jump. In the pole vault, first-year Gavin Holcombe placed second at 4.50m and junior Adam Jaros finished sixth at 4.05m in a personal-best.
Harvard Crimson Open
Columbia continued its momentum in Cambridge with multiple top-10 finishes and personal bests across the track and field events.
Sophomore Kylie Castillo placed seventh in the 200m in a personal-best 25.10. First-year Catalina Holliday finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 11.80m.
In the weight throw invite, first-year Mia Hoskins placed fifth with a throw of 17.04m. In the weight throw open, junior Maya Helmen finished 10th with a personal-best 14.33m.
Brotschi once again led the Lions by winning the 200m in a personal-best 21.49.
In the long jump, senior Joshua Adams placed second with a mark of 7.02m, junior Tyler Yen finished fourth at 6.73m, junior Benson Fleischer placed seventh at 6.59m, and sophomore Joshua Yoon took eighth at 6.51m. Yoon also added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.73m.
In the throws, first-year Marcus Blasucci placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 16.20m, while junior Parker Kim finished third in the weight throw at 19.89m.

The Lions are returning to the Big Apple for the Ivy League Indoor Heps inside The Armory. The championship is set to start at 10am on Saturday, February 28, and 11am on Sunday, March 1. More information can be found HERE.
