Xu (-3), Zeng (+1) earn top-10 individual finishes
MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Columbia women's golf team continued its impressive 2025-26 campaign with a runner-up team finish at the Space Coast Classic, presented by MoonGolf. The final round of the 54-hole event was contested on Sunday at Duran Golf Club.
Columbia earned its fourth top-three finish in five events so far on the 2025-26 season, as well as its second runner-up (Battle at the Creek, Sept. 15-16). The team of first-years, Kristina Xu, Emily Zeng and Bridget Chantharath, and sophomores Sarah Shao and Christine Chang, combined for a 54-hole team total of 6-over-par 870. It's the second-lowest 54-hole team total in program history, just four shots off the record set this past fall (+14, 866) at the Princeton Invitational. It is the lowest 54-hole team score in relation to par in team history.
Xu posted her third top-five finish through just five collegiate events. After carding a 5-under 67 in Saturday's second round, the rookie from Claremont, California, battled through windy course conditions and a weather delay to shoot a final round 1-over 73. Xu birdied four of her opening 13 holes and fought to the finish as conditions continued to get tougher. Her 3-under-par 213 tournament total is the third-lowest 54-hole score in program history.
Meanwhile, Emily Zeng shot a final-round 72 to finish in the top 10 at 1 over for the tournament. The rookie from Beijing was solid all weekend, carding a 3-over 74 and a 1-under 71 on Saturday. She had four birdies and four bogeys in Sunday's final round, earning a top-10 finish in her collegiate debut.
Christine Chang (+8) posted another top 25, her fourth in five events through her sophomore campaign. She climbed 15 spots up the leaderboard on Sunday with a final-round 72. Sophomore Emily Luo highlighted the Columbia B team with a 27th-place finish at 10 over par. Shao and Chantharath (+10) also tied for 27th.
The Lions compete again next week, Sunday, March 1 – Tuesday, March 3, at the More Than Golf Invitational.
