
Track & Field Gears up for Ivy Heps

Ivy League Championships will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. in New Jersey
PRINCETON, N.J. — The Columbia track & field team has officially concluded its 2026 outdoor regular season and is ready for a trip to New Jersey for the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Princeton University.
The competition, which will take place throughout the entire day on both Saturday and Sunday at Weaver Stadium, is set to begin with the women's pole vault, men's long jump, and men's hammer throw at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Columbia track & field recorded nine top-5 finishes and one school record at the Larry Ellis Invitational, highlighted by senior Lucy Henkel's program-record 2:04.11 in the women's 800m to place fourth. Sophomore Kylie Castillo won the women's 200m (24.19) and finished sixth in the 400m (56.57), while Caroline Schoen added a fifth-place finish in the 800m (2:13.77). The women's 4x100m relay team placed sixth (46.88).
On the men's side, Haydn Brotschi won the 400m (46.05) and placed fourth in the 200m (21.35), while Ralph Brown finished second in the 800m (1:53.57). George Blaha placed third in the 10,000m (29:09.11), and the men's 4x100m relay team finished fourth (40.65). Max Comfere added a third-place finish in the 200m (21.35).
In the field events, first-year Mia Hoskins placed 10th in the hammer throw (54.86m) at Larry Ellis before earning a runner-up finish at the Army West Point Twilight with a throw of 54.57m.
Joshua Adams placed ninth in the long jump (6.94m), Norina Khanzada tied for 10th in the high jump (1.63m), and Caroline Jankowich finished ninth in the 1500m (4:33.49).
RECENT HEPS HISTORY
The Lions medaled in seven events and finished the Ivy outdoor Heps with the men finished fifth with 56 points and he women in eighth with 22 points.
Joshua Adams won the Lions' first silver medal on Saturday in the long jump, Rory Clare claimed the team's first silver on Sunday in the 1500m, clocking in at 4:25.64, just over a second off of first place.
Haydn Brotschi also took home a silver medal, taking second in the 400m with a time of 46.80, just under two tenths of a second away from gold.
Madison Williams scored a point in the long jump for the women, finish sixth with a jump of 6.11m.
Jessica Thomspon took seventh in the pole vault, setting a new program record with a mark of 3.92m. Lucy Markow set a first-year record in the same event with a mark of 3.77m.
The men's 4x800 relay, consisting of Ben Bergey, Justin Gottlieb, Matt Gatune, and Jacob Van Orden. The team finished with a time of 7:23.90 to claim the silver medal.
