Henkel set new school records in women’s outdoor 800m
PRINCETON, N.J. — The Columbia outdoor track & field team recorded nine top-5 finishes and one school record to cap a strong weekend at Larry Ellis Invitational.
On the women's side, sophomore Kylie Castillo shined with a first-place finish in the 200m (24.19) and added a sixth-place showing in the 400m (56.57).
Senior Lucy Henkel delivered one of the top performances of the meet, placing fourth in the 800m while setting a new program record with a time of 2:04.11.
Caroline Schoen added a fifth-place finish in the same event (2:13.77), while the 4x100m relay team of Kaila O'Connor, Sean O'Brien, Josie Rempe, and Castillo took sixth (46.88).
In the field, first-year Mia Hoskins placed 10th in the hammer throw (54.86m), and Norina Khanzada tied for 10th in the high jump (1.63m).
Caroline Jankowich contributed a ninth-place finish in the 1500m (4:33.49).
On the men's side, senior Haydn Brotschi, who won the 400m in 46.05 and added a fourth-place finish in the 200m (21.35).
The Lions also saw a runner-up finish from Ralph Brown in the 800m (1:53.57), while George Blaha placed third in the 10,000m (29:09.11).
Columbia's 4x100m relay team of Matthew Mazero, Brotschi, Zach Willen, and Max Comfere placed fourth (40.65). Comfere also secured a third-place finish in the 200m (21.35).
Joshua Adams added a ninth-place mark in the long jump (6.94m).
